If you insist on staying in Pleasant Valley, most players will agree that the Farmstead is the best bet, but there are better bases (and maps) to call home in The Long Dark. This complete guide to clothing in The Long Dark will give you all stats for every clothing item in the game at 100 percent condition. This will allow you to see how certain items stack up against others, and decide what builds you want to put together.

Your clothing in The Long Dark is responsible for protecting you against several things.

  • Air Temp: This is what the air temperature is in whatever location you’re currently in, be it inside or outside.
  • Warmth Bonus: This is a bonus you’re getting from your clothing, and the Cold Fusion badge that you can earn for staying outdoors for 100 days.
  • Wind-chill: This is the wind-chill factor, which should be 0℃ if you’re indoors. If you’re outside and it’s windy, this will impact the temperature you feel.
  • Windproof Bonus: Clothing can also provide protection from the wind. This reading is a direct counter to the wind-chill reading.
  • Feels Like: Tells you what your character feels like. If it’s above 0℃ you are warm enough. If it’s below you will begin to lose warmth until you freeze.
  • Protection: This is the amount of protection that your clothing offers against predators. Higher ratings and you are more likely to survive struggles.
  • Sprint: If naked, your sprint will be 100 percent. As you add clothing it begins to drop. If you value running this reading is vital to your ability to do that.

Below, you will find a table that gives you every clothing item in the game and its values when the item is at 100 percent condition. We’ve separated it the same way it appears on the clothing screen in-game. Please note that all values are in ℃ and kilograms. Additionally, the warmth/weight ratio is calculated using only the warmth bonus and the weight. There is a seperate category for wind/weight.
